Qualification Description

This qualification describes the skills and knowledge for consulting arborists and tree managers.

Graduates with this qualification assess trees and produce reports and documentation attesting to the health and risks related to trees. They diagnose tree disorders and defects, document and communicate recommendations for tree establishment, canopy management, tree remediation, environmental and habitat development and tree removals, within a legislative and regulatory framework.

Legislation, regulations and by-laws relating to the establishment, treatment and removal of trees apply in some States and Territories.

 

Entry Requirements

To commence this qualification an individual must have achieved the following units of competency or their equivalent:

  • AHCARB314 Implement a tree maintenance program
  • AHCARB316 Perform pruning operations
  • AHCARB323 Identify trees.

You will receive a list of additional resources that we suggest that you purchase to help support you on your learning journey. 

We have teamed together with 'Proof Safe' to provide you with access to the reports through your mobile application to help you gather your evidence and knowledge within the workplace. 

 

*When you choose to study with us we will provide you with the option of attending the Arboriculture Australia Annual Conference on one occassion. This offer includes the 2 day pass to the Arboriculture Seminars only.   • Units of Competency

Packaging Rules

To achieve this qualification, competency must be demonstrated in:

  • 10 units of competency:
  • 8 core units plus
  • 2 elective units.

We have selected the elective units to ensure the integrity of the qualification’s Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) alignment and contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome.

  • Core - AHCARB509 Develop an arboricultural impact assessment report
  • Core - AHCARB510 Specify and audit tree work
  • Core - AHCARB511 Prepare arborist reports
  • Core - AHCARB513 Examine and assess trees
  • Core - AHCARB514 Diagnose tree diseases
  • Core - AHCWRK508 Interpret legislation
  • Elective - AHCBUS515 Prepare estimates, quotes, and tenders
  • Elective - AHCWRK518 Provide specialist advise to clients

 

You may select up to one alternative elective to include in your course;

  • BSBWHS414 Contribute to WHS risk management
  • BSBLDR523 Lead and manage effective workplace relationships
  • BSBOPS502 Manage business operational plans
